PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing material excellent in wear-resistance and capable of being extendable in service life as the result, and a fluid machine provided with the same. SOLUTION: The sealing material comprises a powder material having a heat conductivity at 100°C of 300 W×m<SP>-1</SP>×K<SP>-1</SP>or more, a carbon fiber, molybdenum disulfide, and a polytetrafluoroethylene, wherein the powder material is preferrably one of copper, gold and silver, and the polytetrafluoroethylene is characterized in that the amount of permanent deformation after leaving under pressure of 14 MPa at the room temperature for 24 hr and then leaving 24 hr after releasing the pressure is 5 % or more.
