PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic/inorganic composite having excellent transparency and solvent resistance even when there exists no strong interaction between an organic polymer and an inorganic compound and the organic polymer is insoluble in an alcohol, its production method, and an optical film obtained from the composite. SOLUTION: A sol-gel reaction of a metal alkoxide compound and/or a metal complex compound, is carried out under the conditions of dissolving the organic polymer in an organic solvent by 5-30 mass% of the total mass of the organic solvent containing at least one selected from the group consisting of an amide solvent, a urea solvent, a sulfoxide solvent and a phosphoric acid solvent by at least 50 mass% of the total mass of the organic solvent.
