PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide foamable thermoplastic resin particles capable, although the mean particle diameter is as small as 20-100μm, of giving thermoplastic resin foamed particles that have minute bubbles and are small in the particle sizes. SOLUTION: The foamable thermoplastic resin particles are formed by incorporating a foaming agent into a polymer obtained by copolymerization of a monomer mixture of 40-70 wt% methacrylic ester monomer and 30-60 wt% styrenic monomer and having a weight average mol. wt. of≥30,000 and <150,000, and the particle sizes thereof are 20-100μm.
