PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a high-purity dialkylphosphinic acid ester. SOLUTION: In reacting and dialkylating a dihalophosphoric acid ester represented by general formula (I) (X is a halogen atom; R is an alkyl group or an aryl group) with an alkyl Grignard reagent represented by general formula (II) R'-Mg-Y (R' is an alkyl group, may be the same with or different from R of general formula (I); Y is a halogen atom, may be the same with or different from X of general formula (I)) to give a dialkylphosphinic acid ester represented by general formula (III), the reaction is carried out while keeping the molar ratio (I)/(II) of the dihalophosphoric acid ester (I) to the alkyl Grignard reagent (II) in a reactor 20/1-1/5.
