<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader which can be loaded with a magnetic head of a different classification while having a discrimination function of the loaded magnetic head without changing a mechanical configuration and circuitry. <P>SOLUTION: The card reader 1 constituted loadably with the magnetic head 6 of the different classification depending upon card specifications is equipped with a magnetic head discrimination circuit 21 consisting of a voltage measurement circuit 22 and a classification judgment circuit 23 in order to discriminate the classification of the magnetic head 6 on the basis of the difference in the DC resistance of a coil of the loaded magnetic head 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
