PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an NAS disk array apparatus for guarding against a user's erroneous operation or illegal access of a software bug and facilitating the management of setting information. SOLUTION: The setting information of an NAS system is indicated to the NAS disk array control part 2 of an NAS disk array apparatus 15 by way of a network 1 from a high-order host such as an NAS client or a management PC. The indication is issued from the management driver side ioctl 16 of a management driver 7 as a special command (ioctl) by way of a network driver 3 and received by the RAID driver side (ioctl) 17 of a RAID driver 8. The RAID driver 8 recognizes that the setting indication of setting information in the NAS system is received and preserves it in the RAID configuration information area 13 of a disk 14 in a disk enclosure 10 by way of an internal disk interface 9.
