PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet processing device, and a sheet processing method, capable of preventing generation of jam of sheets that are carried. SOLUTION: In a case where note size having a horizontal to vertical ratio that does not exist in subject kinds of notes to be handled is detected, slide correction is not conducted. In a case where pass of a note end inside an outer belt is detected, slide correction is not conducted. In a case where thickness abnormality of a note (abnormality in transmitted light quantity) is detected, slide correction is not conducted. In a case where skew larger than prescribed is detected, skew correction is not conducted. Notes that have not been corrected are unconditionally eliminated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
