PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vane rotary type air pump enabling the stabilization of long-term performance and reduction of noise by preventing the malfunction of vanes by preventing grease and oil from invading into a pump mechanism part. SOLUTION: This vane rotary type air pump 1 comprises the pump mechanism part 2 and a motor part 3 connected to the pump mechanism part 2 and driving the pump mechanism part 2 through a common shaft 23. One end of a shaft 23 is pivotally supported on a thrust bearing installed on the motor part 3 side, a motor rotor 22 is disposed with the axial center of the magnet 27 of the motor rotor 22 moved from the axial center of a stator 21 to the pump mechanism part 2 side, and clearances 9 and 10 are formed between a rotor 5 and a front plate 7 and between the rotor 5 and an end plate 8.
