PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder capable of reducing the size by making a space which can be used effectively in the recorder through a simple arrangement without causing any cost increase and arranging a flexible cable in that space. SOLUTION: The recorder is arranged such that a flexible cable 300 is bent by about 180°between the securing part thereof on the recording means side and the securing part on the recorder side, and the projection plane of a feed roller 101 and the projection plane at the bend 300a of the flexible cable are overlapped on a plane intersecting the moving direction of a recording means 202. Alternatively, the recorder is arranged such that the bend 300a of the flexible cable is located on the upstream side of the guide plane 205b of a member 205a for guiding main scanning of the recording means in the carrying direction of a recording material.
