PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooking utensil which can assist cooking suitably for a heating object without being conscious of the shape of a heated object. SOLUTION: The cooking utensil is provided with a heating section 1 which heats inside of a grill cabinet 2 and a gridiron 4 which has a heated object 3 on it and can slide in/out of the grill cabinet 2, and a shape sensing means 8 which reads the shape of the heated object 3 laid on the gridiron 4 while the gridiron 4 is sliding into the grill cabinet 2 is installed in the grill cabinet inlet section 21.
