An optical laminate (C) is provided by stacking at least one substantially non-oriented layer (layer B) composed of a transparent resin on at least one plane of a layer (layer A) composed of a resin having a negative inherent birefringence value. The optical laminate satisfies an inequality of ||Re(A)||>||Re(B)||, where, Re(A) is a retardation of the layer A within a plane and Re(B) is a retardation of the layer B within a plane, both of which are measured by light having a wavelength of 400-700nm. An optical element is composed of a laminate of the optical laminate and a polarizing plate. A liquid crystal display apparatus is provided by using at least one sheet of the optical laminate. The liquid crystal display apparatus can be optically compensated in accordance with a liquid crystal display mode by three-dimensional refraction factor control, and a liquid crystal display screen with less phase difference change due to a viewing angle is provided.
