The production process is for roll to apply ink to a printing mold. The surface of the roll is in contact with at least one doctor, and has webs and the ink-receiving recesses in its surface (2) in the form of hashing (3). The run of the webs is interrupted in regular stages, so that the resulting web segments (4) are conical at beginning and end. The segments are offset axially from each other.
