A non-return valve, in an oil or fuel filter chamber (1), comprises a moveable valve-member (3) urged against a valve seat (11) by a spring (4) retained by a valve-holder (5) which is held directly between lugs (6) projecting from the housing (1).The valve-holder is shaped to provide recesses for engaging the lugs, and to permit rotation by an insertion tool during assembling. An independent claim is included for an engine oil or fuel filter incorporating the valve assembly.
