The lift for passengers and/or loads has at least one lift car constructed from walls and at least one drive unit. The components of the drive unit allocated to the lift car (1) are located in the spatial area of two adjoining walls (2,3) lying outside the lift car. The floor assembly of the lift has a flat constructional height. The components of the drive unit not directly associated with the lift car are on support profiles (10) extending along the lift path of the lift car.
