摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the throughput of processing in a device for decoding run length coded data. <P>SOLUTION: A run length coded data stream is supplied to a variable length code decoder 10. The variable length code decoder 10 decodes a DC component and an AC component, and outputs them. A register 14 for DC stores DC component data. The register 14 writes zero data all in registers 16 for AC at the timing for storing the DC component data and initializes the data. Since the zero component of the AC component data continued to the DC component data is already written in the register 16 for the AC, it is not written, but only non-zero component is written in the corresponding register.
