PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder block enabling the suppression of the occurrence of vibration and noise resulting from torsional deformation by increasing its strength against a torsional stress. SOLUTION: This cylinder block comprises a plurality of cylinder liners 13 to 16 disposed in a row and having, at its upper end part, a common upper deck part 23 and a cylinder block body 12 having an outer wall 18 surrounding the cylinder liners 13 to 16. A connection wall 31 connecting, to each other, a pair of inner wall surfaces 18A and 18B of the outer wall 18 formed in the arrangement direction of the cylinder liners 13 to 16 is formed on the cylinder block body 12. The cylinder liners 14 and 15 at the center portion in the arrangement direction are disposed so that an interval D2 between the centerlines L of the cylinder liners is larger than intervals D1 and D3 between the centerlines L of the cylinder liners 13, 14 and 15, 16 at portions other than the center portion.
