PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation construction method for an existing building, which facilitates construction work, shortens a construction period, and contributes to cost reduction, waste reduction, and an excellent construction environment, and to provide a base-isolated building. SOLUTION: The existing building 1 is formed of a superstructure 3, a foundation 2 bearing the same, and anchor bolts 5 connecting between the superstructure and the foundation. The base isolation construction method for the existing building is comprised of a step of forming a notched portion 20 in the foundation 2 of the existing building 1, a step of inserting a jack 21 into the notched portion to bear an upper surface of the notched portion, a step of horizontally cutting the foundation to divide the same into an upper foundation 2A and a lower foundation 2B, a step of setting a base isolation device 10 in a gap between the divided lower and upper foundations, and a step of removing the jack and bearing the upper foundation 2A by the base isolation device 10. The step is further comprised of a step of reinforcing the divided lower and/or upper foundation, after execution of the step of dividing the foundation.
