<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming unit which can be easily manufactured, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: A worker assembles each of an intermediate transfer assembly 97 and an image carrier unit 98, then attaches a bearing 111 into a hole 112 of a side frame 100a, inserts one end of a rotary support shaft 49 of an image carrier 50 into the bearing 111 attached into the hole 112, turns the rotary support shaft 49 with the one end of the rotary support shaft 49 attached into the bearing 111 as a supporting point, and passes the other end of the rotary support shaft 49 through a notch 1134 of the side frame 100b.
