<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a driving source for driving an image reading portion, and electric connection with a circuit substrate for controlling the driving source in an image forming apparatus equipped with an image forming apparatus body and the image reading portion. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus is mounted with a joint cover 61 on a printer body 1, It is further mounted with a scanner unit and a control panel unit on the joint enclosure 61. Since a main board 95 of the printer body 1, a relay substrate 95a of the joint enclosure 61 and a scanning motor 84a etc. for driving a scanner unit are all arranged on the same side (on the left-hand side of right and left directions, and on the backside of front and back directions ). The length of a harness for connecting these electrically and a routing lead can be shortened.
