PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polarizer protective film having excellent environmental resistance, retardation characteristics as an optical compensation function, excellent stability of the retardation characteristics, and good adhesion property with a polarizer. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the polarizer protective film copmprises: applying a mixture containing a hydrophilic polymer compound and a crosslinking resin compound onto at least one surface of a thermoplastic polymer film; and then applying heat treatment to the film.
