PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of identifying a color of printing paper. SOLUTION: The ink-jet recording device 1 is provided with a data receiving part 11, which inputs printing data to be printed on the printing paper and RGB data of the printing paper set by using an RGB color system, a printing paper color identifying part 13, which converts the RGB data inputted by the data receiving part 11 to a lightness index L<SP>*</SP>set by using a Lab color system, chromaticness indices a<SP>*</SP>, b<SP>*</SP>, and a chroma C<SP>*</SP>acquired from the chromaticness indices a<SP>*</SP>, b<SP>*</SP>, a color conversion table determining part 14, which judges whether to convert the hue of the printing data by using the lightness index L<SP>*</SP>of the Lab color system, the chromaticness indices a<SP>*</SP>, b<SP>*</SP>, the chroma C<SP>*</SP>, and the printing data or not, and a color conversion part 16 which converts the hue of the printing data by using a color conversion table 15 by the judgement of the color conversion table determining part 14.
