PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation sensor excellent in assembly workability, capable of reducing a cost, and excellent in detection precision over a wide range. SOLUTION: In this rotation sensor having a rotor 10 attached to a rotary shaft S, and having a conductive sensing part 12 with a width varied along its circumferential direction, an excitation coil for forming a magnetic circuit in a space with respect to the sensing part of the rotor by make an alternating excitation current flow, and a core main body formed of an insulation magnetic material and for holding the excitation coil, and provided with fixed cores 31, 32, 41, 42 attached to a fixing member 90 and arranged opposedly the sensing part of the rotor with a space along an axial direction of the shaft, the fixed cores are arranged in two portions at angles wherein the central angle formed with respect to an axis of the shaft is an angle excepting 180°.
