An electrode with a flat-area, electrically conductive collector ( 1 ) is proposed in which a corrosion-resistant, metallically conductive inner intermediate layer ( 5 ) is applied seamlessly to at least one main surface of the collector and a corrosion-resistant, metallically conductive outer intermediate layer ( 10 ) is applied seamlessly to the inner intermediate layer. The outer surface of the outer intermediate layer is covered seamlessly by an electrode layer ( 15 ) containing carbon. Such an electrode according to the invention has increased stability.
