Device and method for phase detection of a signal

The method involves performing, at instants regularly distributed within a time interval, a sequence of detections of a signal state. A count variable is increased in a sequence of count variables or left unchanged based on the state. The processes are reiterated over time intervals. Values of the variables are compared in pairs in the sequence of the variables. Two adjacent variables with high difference are identified. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a device for estimating a phase shift of a signal (B) a radio frequency identification read device.
