The cover (2) of building openings for purposes of pressure release comprises a frame and a pivotable lid (4), with the latter locked in place until the pressure on the lid reaches a specified value further includes an elastic coupling element between the frame and the lid. The length of this element in unloaded state is less than the distance between its fixing points at the maximum pivot angle of the lid.
