A ferrule (20) for an optical waveguide has a composite metal sleeve (22) which has a first tubular section (28) and a coaxial second tubular section (30) axially spaced therefrom and with the second tubular section connected to the first via an intermediate section and to a molded first plastics part (24) around the free end of the first tubular section (28), and a second plastic part (26) axially spaced therefrom, which is formed around the ends adjacent to the intermediate section (32) of the two tubular sections and around the intermediate section (32).
