The label applying process involves gripping the labels (8) after partly positioning stack (4), preferably using a grip device (24), and laying them on the stack so that the holding part (16) overlaps the upper side (22) and the printed or picture part (18) projects over one side surface. The labels may be fixed to a protective arc before fitting them.
