Method and device for fault-tolerant determination of moving direction

The method involves detecting a level of a signal (S2) from a pulse generator when a level of another signal (S1) from another generator changes. The level of signal (S1) is detected when the level of signal (S2) changes. The detected levels are verified for plausibility. Direction signal of a moving object is updated with the plausible detected level. The direction change is displayed only when there is no consecutive pulse fault. The change in the direction of the moving object is handled using a string checking software. An independent claim is also included for a device for fault-tolerant identification of a moving direction of an object.
