A variable blade pitch mechanism has a drive shaft 17 carrying a propeller blade hub 21 at one end. Propeller blades 29 are mounted on the blade hub 21 for turning movement about their length to allow adjustment of their pitch. A pitch control actuator 34 is mounted for axial sliding movement with respect to the drive shaft 17, and is coupled to each propeller blade 29 so that axial movement of the actuator 34 simultaneously adjusts the pitch of each blade. A pitch control rod 36 extends through a bore formed coaxially through the propeller drive shaft 17 and transmits axial movement effected by a pitch adjustment mechanism 55 to the actuator 34. The mechanism may be applied to a model aircraft propeller. |
