PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a phosphinyl group-containing N-substituted amino acid derivative under industrially advantageous conditions by using a readily available raw material. SOLUTION: This phosphinyl group-containing N-substituted amino acid derivative is represented by formula (1) or formula (2) (R1, R2 and R4 each denotes an aromatic group or an aliphatic group; R3 denotes H, an aromatic group or an aliphatic group; and R5 denotes an aliphatic group). The method for producing the phosphinyl group-containing N-substituted amino acid derivative comprises reacting an (α-formylethyl)phosphine oxide compound or a (β- formylethyl)phosphine oxide compound or both are reacted with carbon monoxide, hydrogen and a primary amide in the presence of a cobalt catalyst. |
