The invention relates to a colloidal system with ceramic nanoparticles in a dispersion medium, characterised in that the nanoparticles dispersed in the dispersion medium are distributed with 90 % and more by proportion as unimodal nanoparticles of the same particle size. The particle size scatter decays from 50 %, for nanoparticles of 1 nm, to 10 % for nanoparticles of 100 nm. The atoms and/or ions on the surface of the nanoparticles are sufficiently saturated with regard to valence by a surface modifier, dependent on the concentration of the nanoparticles in the dispersion medium, such that an energetic equilibrium for the nanoparticle in the dispersion medium occurs. Said colloidal system is characterised by a good stability and maintains a balance for the unimodal/monomodal nanoparticles homogeneously distributed in the dispersion medium.
