PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which supply of electric power to internal circuits can not be easily stopped when a cable is connected to equipment in a method which is used to turn off the power supply while the cable is not connected to the equipment. SOLUTION: The condition, in which a monitor subunit of a monitor 2 is turned on and a monitor subunit of a monitor 3 is also turned on, is transitioned to the condition in which the monitor subunit of the monitor 3 is turned off (the main power supply is turned on, however, the power supply of the monitor 3 is turned off) by the operation of a remote controller of the monitor 3. In this case, a system controller 8 should detect the fact that the power supply of the monitor 3 is turned off from the response of the monitor 3 for a power command. When the power supply of the monitor 3 is detected to be turned off, the system controller 8 immediately controls a power supply unit 12 and supply of the power from the power supply unit 12 to a sub picture decoder (DEC)19, a D/A converter 23 and a video encoder (ENC)26 is stopped.
