PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive terminal for an electrical connector, which can easily be manufactured and has a plated layer containing a reduced amount of a trace metal required for plating; a plating method therefor; and a terminal connection therefor. SOLUTION: The terminal for the electrical connector includes a terminal substrate 2 formed by stamping a metallic thin sheet, and a gold-plated layer 17 which coats the terminal substrate 2. The terminal substrate 2 is formed of a remaining plane after the thin sheet has been stamped, and has a side face 4 having at least one contact point 6 and a planar face 5 formed of the front and back surface remaining after the thin sheet has been stamped. The plated layer 17 consisting of the trace metal which covers the planar face 5 is thinner than the plated layer 17 which covers the side face 4 having at least one contact point 6.
