PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame retardant resin composition having preferable various properties originally possessed by an ethylenic copolymer, and also having excellent balance of flexibility, heat resistance, abrasion resistance and flame retardancy. SOLUTION: The flame retardant resin composition contains a polymer composition obtained by melt-kneading at least one kind of the specific ethylenic copolymer selected from an ethylene-vinyl ester copolymer, an ethylene-unsaturated carboxylic acid ester copolymer and an ethylene-unsaturated carboxylic acid-based copolymer, with a resin comprising a specified propylene multi-copolymer or a blend of the copolymer with a propylene homopolymer, in the presence of an organic peroxide, a polypropylene resin and an inorganic compound in a specific proportion.
