PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a multibranched macromonomer having multiple primary hydroxy groups, bindable to a compound having polymerizable group(s) such as vinyl or epoxy group(s) or a compound having functional group(s) such as carboxy group(s). SOLUTION: The multibranched macromonomer having multiple hydroxy groups is obtained by the following process: A hydroxy-containing oxetane compound is subjected to anionic ring-opening polymerization to obtain a multibranched polyether polyol having in the molecule one oxetanyl group and multiple hydroxy groups, and the multibranched polyether polyol is then polymerized singly, or a cationic copolymerization is carried out between the multibranched polyether polyol and another oxetane compound or a polycarboxylic acid.
