PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a rubber composition whereby a rubber composition which contains an ethylene-α-olefin-nonconjugated diene copolymer rubber excellent in kneadability and shape retention as a rubber component, is produced with a high yield, inhibits quality deterioration (discoloration, gelling, etc.) during storage and processing, and is excellent in handleability at processing, is produced without using a large-scale facility while homogeneously dispersing additives in the composition. SOLUTION: In the production method of a rubber composition, a polymerizate solution or slurry containing a particular ethylene-α-olefin-nonconjugated diene copolymer rubber is yielded by solution polymerization or slurry polymerization; a polymerization terminator and/or a catalyst remover is added to the polymerizate solution or slurry; then, a compound of formula (I) or (II) is added to and mixed with the same; and the solution or slurry is subjected to solvent removal.
