PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a paper powder from adhering to a reflection sensor in a recording device and a carriage having an optical reflection sensor to detect an object to be recorded. SOLUTION: The recording device has a recording head to perform recording on an object to be recorded while moving back and forth on the object, a platen facing the recording head and supporting the object to be recorded, a reflection sensor facing the platen so as to detect the presence of the object to be transferred onto the platen and emitting light to the platen and detecting light reflected, an electric board having a flat plate shape and holding the side of the reflection sensor far away from the platen, a holder holding the electric board, covering the reflection sensor and the electric board from the side near to the platen, and moving back and forth with the recording head by being attached to the recording head, and a dustproof wall extending from the holder and butting against the electric board so as to surround the reflection sensor between the electric board and the holder.
