PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device such as an inkjet recording device, e.g., an inkjet printer and an image forming device such as a copying machine, a facsimile machine, and a printer, which can continue recording as much as possible up to the number of recording papers required by a user in a safe temperature range, and to provide an overheating avoidance method of the recording device. SOLUTION: When recording is performed in a recording mode selected on the basis of data recorded in a recording means 33 concerning a temperature change correspondent to the recording mode and temperature of the prescribed part detected by a temperature detection means 34 for detecting the temperature of the prescribed part, and it is determined that the temperature will reach the dangerous temperature, a control means 30 capable of selecting another recording mode is used to prevent the temperature of a prescribed part from reaching a dangerous temperature.
