PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely turn over a passbook or the like without bringing about the dust of the passbook or that of a roller, irrespective of the level of the stiffness of the passbook or the like. SOLUTION: This apparatus has a push-up guide 83 which pushes up and curves the passbook or the like which is carried by carrying roller couples 2a-2d to a turning-over position 106, a fourth control part 114 which controls variably the amount of pushing-up of the passbook T or the like by the push-up guide 83, according to the strength of the stiffness thereof, a turn-over roller 82 which curves the cover of the passbook T or the like and flips up the tip part of the cover in such a manner that the cover pushed up and curved by the push-up guide 83 is brought into contact with this roller and turned over, and a third control part 113 which executes the control for turning over the cover in such a manner that a force against the carrying direction is given, through the medium of the turn-over roller 82, to the cover flipped up with the carriage of the passbook T or the like by the carrying roller couples 2a-2d, based on that the tip part of the cover is flipped up by the roller 82.
