<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion compensating optical fiber or the like which is suitably used for large-capacity and high-speed optical transmission. <P>SOLUTION: A dispersion compensating optical fiber 10 has a first core area 11 which includes a center axis and has a maximum refractive index n<SB>1</SB>, a second core area 12 which surrounds the first core area 11 and has a refractive index n<SB>2</SB>(n<SB>1</SB>>n<SB>2</SB>), a third core area 13 which surrounds the second core area 12 and has an refractive index n<SB>3</SB>(n<SB>2</SB><n<SB>3</SB>), and a clad area 14 which surrounds the third core area 13 and has a refractive index n<SB>4</SB>(n<SB>3</SB>>n<SB>4</SB>). At 1,550 nm wavelength, FOM is≥200 ps/nm/dB, and an absolute value of RDC is≥10<SP>-4</SP>nm<SP>-2</SP>. It is suitable that RDS at 1,550 nm wavelength of the dispersion compensating optical fiber is in a range of 0.005 to 0.009 nm<SP>-1</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
