METHOD FOR RECOVERING AND UTILIZING Ni

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which Ni contained in the form of an oxide in slag generated in an arc furnace in a process for manufacturing an Ni ingot as an object of working can be recovered and utilized and the Ni recovery can be attained in combination with a stainless-steel-manufacturing process while obviating the necessity of reducing the Ni into metallic state and temporarily taking it out.

SOLUTION: The slag is put into the arc furnace for Ni stainless steel manufacture and brought into contact with molten steel to reduce the Ni oxide into metal Ni. The metal Ni is moved into the molten metal for Ni stainless steel manufacture using an AOD process and utilized as an alloy component for the Ni stainless steel.
