<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which a high opening ratio is ensured even in the case a narrow pitch is adopted, which has high contrast and reduced vertical cross talk. <P>SOLUTION: In the lateral electric field type liquid crystal display device, a comb teeth end part (D part) of a pixel electrode 206 integrated with a source electrode is opened in the vicinity of a contact hole 212 between an upper layer common electrode 210 and a lower layer common signal wire 202. By adopting the above structure, even in the case a ratio of an area occupied by the contact hole to the pixel area gets larger due to the narrow pitch, the opening ratio is ensured to the maximum and the contact hole is easily formed. Also a closed part of the comb teeth end part, the common signal wire 202 and the common electrode 210 together form a storage capacitor with via an insulating film, and the storage capacitance value is suitably adjusted by using the part to be opened of the comb teeth end part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
