PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speaker which is free from occurrence of characteristic distortion, etc., caused by resonance in a specific frequency determined by pipe length even though a pipe type housing is used and attains a reduced installation floor area by employing the pipe type housing and the improved degree of freedom of design. SOLUTION: In this speaker, a speaker unit 2 whose diameter is almost equal to the diameter of the cylindrical housing 1 is attached outwardly to one end part of the cylindrical housing 1 to be closed, the housing 1 is erected with a speaker unit 2 disposed at an upper part, a floor plate 9 is provided at the bottom part of the housing 1 so as to provide a gap (opening part 10) between the housing 1 and the floor plate 9, and a sound absorbing material 8 is provided in the inner surface of the housing 1.
