PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrite magnet high in both remanent magnetization and a coersive force. SOLUTION: The ferrite magnet comprises a W-type ferrite having, as a main phase, a hexagonal structure expressed as (1-x)SrO/(x/2)La<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>/2FeO/(n-y/2)Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>/yCoO, where x, y and n refer to mol ratios and satisfy relations of 0.01≤x≤0.2, 0.01≤y≤0.2 and 7≤n≤9, and Co<SP>2+</SP>substitutes for Fe<SP>3+</SP>of the W-type ferrite.
