PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic metal halide lamp keeping high lamp power factor and efficiency even if a ballast for high pressure mercury lamp is used. SOLUTION: The ceramic metal halide lamp has a light emitting tube containing mercury, rare gas, thallium halide, sodium halide, and at least one kind selected from dysprosium halide, thulium halide, holmium halide, erbium halide, and terbium halide as sealed materials. Molar number of cesium element in cesium halide contained in the light emitting tube is 10% or less of the molar number of the metal elements of dysprosium halide, thulium halide, holmium halide, erbium halide, and terbium halide.
