PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite optical element manufacturing method capable of preventing bubbles from getting mixed in a resin layer. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the composite optical element by laminating a resin layer on an optical base material 11, the photocuring resin 12 arranged on the surface of the optical base material 11 is molded by using a mold 132 and cured by the irradiation with light to form the resin layer. In a process wherein the mold 132 is moved from an initial position spaced apart from the photosetting resin 132 to a final position where the molding of the photocuring resin 12 by the mold 132 is completed, the moving speed of the mold 132 on and after the point of time when the mold 132 arrives at a contact position coming into first contact with the photocuring resin 12 is lower than the previous moving speed of the mold 132.
