PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying passage opening/closing mechanism for reducing the clamping force of a carrying roller in a U-shaped carrying passage to avoid paper jam. SOLUTION: A turn arm 81 which is turned in engagement with a turn engaging part 37 of a carrying passage opening/closing block and a roller thrust arm 83 which is turned while supporting a pressure roller 15b are connected to each other via a tensile coil spring 82. When the carrying passage opening/closing block is closed and the turn arm 81 is turned clockwise, the coil spring 82 is pulled and the roller thrust arm 83 is turned counterclockwise. When the pressure roller 15b abuts on a feed roller to prevent the counterclockwise rotation of the roller thrust arm 83, the coil spring 82 is elongated with the clockwise rotation of the turn arm 81 to impart its tension as elastic load to the pressure roller. When the opening/closing block is opened, the turn engaging part 37 is moved apart therefrom to permit the clockwise rotation of the turn arm 81 with the tension of the coil spring 82 and reduce the elastic load.
