PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic photographic subject carrying device capable of reducing a load of a CPU while maintaining predetermined detecting accuracy. SOLUTION: This device is an automatic carrying device for carrying the photographic subject on contact glass of an image reading part for reading image information while carrying the object including a document. The automatic object carrying device has a reflection type light sensor for detecting the existence of the object, and detects the object by flashing a light emitting part of this light sensor, and holds its history information by reading output of the flashing light sensor in the predetermined timing regardless of turning-on and turning-off.
