The invention relates to a method of screening for a compound able to modulate the activity of an N-type voltage-dependent calcium channel consisting of the Ca_v2.2 (alpha1B), alpha2delta1, beta1 and gamma4 subunits; wherein said compound may be in one embodiment e.g. an antibody or an antisense nucleotide sequence.
