Filter element has a mounting with a rectangular slot, into which the filter (32) fits and which is closed by a plate with hooks which fit around notches in the slot. A rectangular sealing plate (40) is mounted on the end of the filter which has slots (46), through which the hooks fit. Alternatively a rectangular frame is fitted around the edge of the slot whose width is less than that of the filter and whose height is greater, leaving gap, through which the hooks fit.
